The fantastic chocolatier is back for a fresh take in the trailer for upcoming “Wonka.”
The new feature will be a prequel to Roald Dahl’s legendary children’s book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” Timothée Chalamet will be starring as Willy Wonka.
The movie, set to hit theaters in December, gives full glimpses into the wild world featuring flying children, giraffes roaming streets, and massive floating balloons.
Chalamet appears as Wonka in a brown top hat and purple coat as a youngster who loves creating and selling chocolate. He wants to make the “greatest chocolate shop the world has ever seen.”
Wonka is seen in one trailer clip sharing his newest finding, a candy that allows people to fly. In another scene Chalamet talks to an Oompa Loompa played by Hugh Grant.
“I will have you know that I am a perfectly respectable size for an Oompa Loompa,” Grant says before playing a fun little tune on a piccolo.
The movie is directed by Paul King who helmed the “Paddington” movies.
King told EW he was reading “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and the Oompa Loompas had a “withering, sarcastic, scornful” way of speaking and that “it sounds terrible, but Hugh’s voice just popped into my head.”
“Wonka” hits theaters Dec. 15.
