Ever had a 'yip yip?' It's apparently St. Louis slang for this food

That's what some people in the greater St. Louis area call a sloppy joe, according to Manwich. The makers of sloppy joe sauce posted a graphic about what certain parts of the US call sloppy joes:
Barbecues: Upper Midwest & Southern Pennsylvania
Sloppy Janes: Central Minnesota
Dynamites: Northern Rhode Island
Yip yips: Southern Illinois & St. Louis area
Yum yums: Parts of Nebraska
Wimpies: Northeastern Pennsylvania

It sparked some local debate and the hosts of St. Louis Talks on KMOX didn't believe it. So we asked our listeners to tell us what they think:

Ken: "I hadn't heard it until just the other day ... until I heard the story."
According to KSDK, Sammi's Sandwiches in Alton, Illinois says it's true local slang for anyone who grew up in Alton.

Doug: "I'm 58-years-old and of Italian descent and all my life it's been called a yip yip ... I tell before Super Bowl parties or whatever, 'I'll bring the yip yip.' And they go, 'What the heck is that?'"

Keith: "I'm a transplant to St. Louis and I married into a Czechoslovakia family, but they call it yip yaps."
