The “I Drink Wine” singer first started sharing clues about the video during the first week of the New Year. She shared a dramatic black and white clip of the piece, where she was the focal point, framed in a giant lit-up “O.”

Alongside the post, she wrote, “Rested and Re-set! Feeling Ready for 2022, there’s so much coming, I’m excited for you all to see it x.”

Sharing snippets before the full release, many fans have been quick to point out symbolism in the video, with some fixated on the burning chair image. Fans have speculated that the burning chair is a callback to Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” music video.

Other fans on Twitter have dug even deeper, recalling that the image of Adele singing and sitting in a chair is featured in her music videos for “Rolling In The Deep,” as well as “Hometown Glory,” and “Easy On Me.” Avid Adele followers feel that her burning chair imagery is referencing the end of her marriage and her ability to move on.

Regardless, of what Adele is trying to tell us, fans can certainly agree that the songstress is meticulously detailed in every facet of her work, leaving no room for coincidence.

In the midst of the full black and white visual, it feels as if viewers are given a personal and intentional view into what was going through Adele’s mind after she divorced and began trying to seek intimacy with a new person.

Throughout the theatrics, Adele is firmly planted amidst the chaos of flaming chairs, crowds of dancers and religious imagery. There is a sense that the artist is learning to be comfortable with the uncomfortable, and finally, at the end of her tumultuous journey she indulges in the forbidden fruit, A.K.A. letting her walls down and having “fun.”

On Instagram Adele celebrated the release of her second 30 music video and thanked her director, Sam Brown, who is also credited for directing her “Rolling In The Deep” music video. She noted, “to collaborate together again a decade later was nostalgic to say the least.”

Additionally, the Brit revealed that her new music video was filmed the day that her first single, “Easy On Me” debuted. “There were a million things going on all at once,” said Atkins. She continued, “but the attention to detail from the crew was borderline hilarious - thank you so much for your patience and pulling it all together it was a lot of fun 🙏🏻 Although right at the end a huge python was on set so I skidaddled my arse straight out of there!”

Referring to the track as her “I’m a hot mess song,” Adele concluded by thanking Harris Reed, Louis Vuitton, and Vivienne Westwood for providing stunning gowns and ensembles to be featured in her explosive new visual.
