NEWARK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Two Newark police officers were stabbed Thursday evening as police responded to a domestic violence call.
A man stabbed the officers just before 5 p.m. at Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard and Montgomery Street in the Springfield/Belmont neighborhood, about a mile from the city’s downtown.
The two male officers were transported to University Hospital for treatment. They were said to be in stable condition.
The suspect was arrested at the scene and charged with attempted murder.
Additional information about the domestic dispute wasn’t immediately known.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
