BRIDGETON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A 28-year-old New Jersey woman was found guilty of murdering her almost two-year-old son in 2019, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
The Bridgeton woman, Nakira Griner, was found guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree desecration of human remains, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, fourth-degree tampering of evidence and second-degree false public alarm.
On Feb. 8, 2019, Griner reported her 23-month-old son, Daniel Griner Jr., was kidnapped while she was walking to the store.
Later that evening, the boy’s remains were found on her property. An autopsy determined the child died from blunt force trauma.
According to court documents, Griner killed her son because he would not "eat nor listen to her."
Griner was convicted after a two-week trial. She will be sentenced on Feb. 21 and is facing life in prison without the possibility of parole.
