Boy, 1, regains pulse at hospital after near-drowning in NJ pool

PARAMUS, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A 1-year-old boy was in critical condition Tuesday after regaining a pulse following a near–fatal drowning at a New Jersey pool.

The boy was pulled from a pool at a home on Beechwood Drive in Paramus at 7 p.m. Monday, police said.

The boy’s mother, police officers and EMS all performed CPR on him.

The child regained a pulse at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. He was then transferred to Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital in New York City.

The boy was alive but in critical condition as of 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

Police haven’t released details about the circumstances leading up to the near-drowning.
