WEST ISLIP (1010 WINS) — A West Islip man was arraigned in a Suffolk County criminal court on Friday for allegedly running down his 80-year-old grandmother with a vehicle and then driving away.

Raymond Gallo, 28, was driving with his grandmother Helga McNulty on Tanglewood Road in West Islip on Oct. 16.

After he dropped her off near Ryan Street around 9:30 p.m., he suddenly made a U-turn and intentionally hit her before speeding off, according to prosecutors.

McNulty died from her injuries.

Authorities have not yet announced a potential motive for the killing.

Prosecutors charged Gallo with murder.
