Officials confirmed the blaze was under control at 1:20 p.m. at a mixed occupancy building on Boerum Place and Pacific Street, which broke out on the second floor and spread quickly at around 10:30 a.m.

The "stubborn" blaze filled the space between the roof and the top floor, according to FDNY Acting Chief John Hodgens. The roof was used as a tennis court with foam insulation that made the fire "difficult to extinguish."

More than 200 firefighters and EMS personnel were at the scene, which encompassses a UFC Fit gym, a former New York Sports Club.

The American Red Cross and additional resources are at the scene. A cause of the fire is under investigation by Fire Marshals.

Citizen Video showed thick smoke rising from the roof of the building.
