NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A subway rider was robbed at a Midtown station by two men wielding a box cutter who then forced him to go to an ATM, police said Wednesday as they released video of the suspects.
The 36-year-old victim was walking up a staircase at the 50th Street A/C/E station at Eighth Avenue around 5 a.m. on May 4 when he was ambushed by the two thieves.
The pair pulled a box cutter on him and stole his wallet, police said.
They then forced him to leave the station and go to a nearby ATM, where they tried to withdraw money from his account.
Police said the attempt was unsuccessful, so the crooks fled into the 50th Street station.
The victim was not injured and refused medical attention at the scene.
The suspects are believed to be in their 20s or early 30s, the NYPD said.
