NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Police arrested six people—including four minors—in the violent, knifepoint robbery of a man and woman on a 1 train in Midtown over the weekend.
The half-dozen suspects were busted Tuesday following the robbery on a train near the 34th Street–Penn Station stop Sunday night.
Among those arrested were two girls, ages 14 and 15, and two boys, ages 15 and 16. They were all charged with robbery.
Two men were also arrested. Kareem Reynolds, 21, of the Bronx, was charged with robbery. Kyle Carmichael, 29, of Newark, was charged with robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.
The two victims, a 39-year-old man and 40-year-old woman, were on a southbound 1 train around 8 p.m. Sunday when they were surrounded by six people.
The group demanded the man’s shoes, phone and wallet while brandishing weapons that included a kitchen knife and a switchblade, police said.
Females in the group demanded the woman’s phone and then punched her multiple times in the face, according to police. They tried to steal her phone but were unable to.
The mob fled the train at the 28th Street station with the man’s wallet and phone.
The woman was treated at the scene for pain to her face.
