NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A group of knife-wielding thieves violently robbed a man and woman on a 1 train in Midtown Manhattan over the weekend, police said Tuesday as they released images of the suspects.
The 39-year-old man and 40-year-old woman were on a southbound 1 train near the 34th Street–Penn Station stop around 8 p.m. Sunday when they were surrounded by six people.
The group demanded the man’s shoes, phone and wallet while brandishing weapons that included a kitchen knife and a switchblade, police said.

Women in the group demanded the woman’s phone and then punched her multiple times in the face, according to police. They tried to steal her phone but were unable to.
The mob fled the train at the 28th Street station with the man’s wallet and phone.
The woman was treated at the scene for pain to her face.
