NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Seven people were injured, three seriously, Tuesday morning in a fire at a high-rise building on the Upper West Side.

Three civilians suffered serious injuries, while three more had minor injuries, the FDNY said. A firefighter also suffered minor injuries.
The FDNY responded to a call just before 6:15 a.m. about the two-alarm fire at a residential building on W. 90th Street, just east of Amsterdam Avenue.
The fire broke out in a 10th-floor trash compactor, sending smoke to “numerous floors” of the building, the FDNY said.
One of the building’s elevators was out of service when firefighters arrived, and a second elevator went out of service during operations, according to the FDNY.
More than 100 firefighters responded. The fire was brought under control just after 7:20 a.m.
The six civilians and one firefighter who were injured were taken to area hospitals. Further details about their conditions weren’t immediately known.
The FDNY was still at the scene after 9 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
