NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Authorities launched an investigation after the decomposing bodies of two seniors were discovered inside their Brooklyn apartment on Thursday.

According to officials, the "badly decomposed" bodies of the two men, ages 77 and 68, were found at about 1:20 p.m. inside the home on Tehama Street near Dahill Road in Kensington during a wellness check.

The pair had not been seen for approximately five days, and an odor was coming from the apartment, police sources told the New York Post.

Neither body showed any obvious signs of trauma, and the city medical examiner’s office will determine their cause of death.
