
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A pedestrian and a bicyclist were killed in a pair of hit-and-run crashes just hours apart in Manhattan and the Bronx on Wednesday night, police said Thursday.
The pedestrian was struck and killed steps from his home in East Harlem just before 7:30 p.m. Then around 11:30 p.m., the bicyclist was fatally hit in Morris Park. Both drivers fled after hitting the two men, according to police.
The 62-year-old pedestrian was crossing Third Avenue from east to west at E. 122nd Street when he was hit by a driver in a gray SUV headed northbound on Third Avenue, police said.

Responding NYPD officers found the victim lying on the pavement with trauma to his head and body.
He was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem but did not survive. He was identified as Oscar Nieves.
He was struck only a short walk from his home on E. 122nd Street, according to police.

The deadly hit-and-run was followed by another in the Bronx four hours later.
A 64-year-old man riding a bicycle was hit by a white pickup truck at Pierce Avenue and Williamsbridge Road.
The victim was pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi. He has not been identified.
No arrests had been reported in either hit-and-run as of Thursday.
