NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- An 18-year-old man surrendered to police a day after he allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death during a domestic dispute in Harlem.

Zyaire Crumbley was arrested just after 9 p.m. Monday and charged with murder at the 32nd Precinct stationhouse after about 24 hours on the run.

Crumbley had been on probation since May and has four prior robbery arrests, according to sources.

Police had been trying to find Crumbley since Saniyah Lawrence was found fatally stabbed in the neck around 5:40 p.m. Sunday inside a vacant apartment on Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard, between W. 135th and W. 136th streets.

Lawrence lived about two miles from the crime scene with her family on W. 112th Street. Relatives and friends have planned a vigil for her on W. 136th Street at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Denise Jackson, the heartbroken grandmother of Lawrence, told 1010 WINS she wasn’t aware of any major problems between the two.

“I never heard of abuse,” she said. “Like little arguments, like boyfriend and girlfriend, you know, like teenager stuff she would go through.”

Jackson said she is “frozen” after detectives came to her door and told her she’d lost her only grandchild, a girl who loved dancing, singing and going out with her friends.

“She’s gone, she didn’t even make 18,” she said. “She was a very beautiful, smart, intelligent, loving girl.”
