NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Bronx gang member has been sentenced to 37 years in prison for several crimes including drug dealing and murder, federal authorities said Thursday.

The 31-year-old man, Robert Wilson, who also goes by the name “Sin,” worked with a gang called the Stevenson Commons Crew who operated out of Soundview. The group’s members are responsible for multiple acts of violence against rival gangs as well as operating a drug dealing business to fund the gang, court documents show.

On Sept. 13, 2018, Wilson and other crew members committed a robbery, punching, kicking and stomping on the victim in the process. The victim was seriously physically injured as a result of the brutal attack, prosecutors said.

Months later, on Jan. 6, 2019, Wilson and other gang members helped plan and carry out a shooting. Their victim was 29-year-old Nelson Ramos, a father of three who had just been released from prison and trying to turn his life around, Ramos’ mother told News 12 following the shooting.

“For years, Robert Wilson filled the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx with drugs and violence. He then helped plan and execute the cold-blooded murder of Nelson Ramos in January 2019,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said. “Today, Wilson was rightly sentenced to 37 years in prison for these horrific crimes. We thank our law enforcement partners at the New York City Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and the New York City Department of Investigation for their outstanding work pursuing justice for Mr. Ramos and his family.”

Wilson pled guilty to participating in a racketeering conspiracy, narcotics conspiracy, and a firearms offense. His co-conspirators, Kevin Crosby and Marquis Yohanis were sentenced to more than two decades in prison already and a third associate, Yefrel Brito, will be sentenced on Dec. 7.

Along with the 37 years in prison, Wilson will be subjected to five years of post-release supervision.
