NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A car parked in front of a Hasidic synagogue in Brooklyn was broken into and robbed of jewelry worth tens of thousands of dollars on Thursday, according to police, who are looking for two suspects.
Police on Friday released images of two men who remain at large.
According to police, both suspects approached the unoccupied car around 5:10 p.m. as it was parked in front of Congregation Yetev Lev D'Satmar on Rodney Street.
Then, one smashed the car's rear window and took a bag from inside that contained around $22,000 worth of jewelry. The other man acted as a look out, police said.
The individuals then fled on foot westbound on Rodney Street toward Bedford Avenue.
It wasn't clear if the burglary was at all connected to the temple or was being investigated as a hate crime.
Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
