
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The hunt is on for a man who escaped from Department of Correction custody at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital in Gramercy Park on Wednesday afternoon, the NYPD announced.
Yenchun Chen, 44, escaped the hospital, located near 1st Avenue and 16th Street, via a 5th-floor window to the street around 4:30 pm., police said.
He used linens to shimmy out the window and get to the street, according to law enforcement sources.


The escaped prisoner then entered a southbound yellow taxi at approximately 4:36 p.m. and fled in it southbound on 2nd Avenue.
Chen, as described police, has a medium complexion, is approximately 6'3" tall and 250 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He has tattoos on his left arm and left hand.
These surveillance photos depict him wearing the clothing he was last seen in while fleeing the hospital.
