NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Four people were injured in a four-alarm fire at a five-story apartment building in the Bronx on Thursday.
The blaze broke out at 4055 Carpenter Avenue in Wakefield Thursday just after 5 p.m., fire officials said.
About 200 fire firefighters and EMS responded to the scene.
The FDNY said the fire broke out on the top floor and spread to the cockloft — the space between ceiling and roof — where it was able to quickly spread throughout the building.
Citizen App video showed heavy flames on the building's roof.
Three firefighters and one civilian were injured in the fire, and many were displaced.
The FDNY estimated 104 apartments were affected by the blaze. The Red Cross is working to find shelter for anyone displaced.
Fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire, and the Department of Buildings is checking the structural integrity of the building.
