NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A registered sex offender was arrested after he was caught with several weapons during a car stop on Staten Island earlier this month, authorities said.
At about 10:50 p.m. on May 5, Michael Mcneil, 45, was arrested in a car stop at South and Forest avenues in Mariners Harbor, according to police.
Mcneil was driving a black, 2009 Kia was stopped by police after a license plate reader revealed that the car had a registration that was suspended or revoked, officials said.
According to a complaint, Mcneil did not show a driver’s license when requested by police.
Officers also seized weapons including a machete, two swords, four knives that were each four inches long, and a hatchet from the vehicle.
Authorities also discovered an ASG air rifle that resembled a real gun from a rear-passenger seat of the vehicle, the complaint added.
Mcneil, who is a registered sex offender, had been driving with a suspended or revoked license was suspended or revoked at the time of his arrest, police said.
He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, possession of an air rifle, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving without a license.
Mcneil was released under supervision and is set to appear in court on June 20.
