NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 60-year-old man died at a hospital several days after he was pummeled to a sidewalk in Brooklyn, police said Monday as they charged a 52-year-old man in the killing.
The victim, identified as Arthur Fleschner, died at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center on Thursday.
His death came four days after NYPD officers responding to a 911 call found him lying on a sidewalk with head trauma at Hegeman Avenue and Chester Street in Brownsville around 9:15 a.m. last Sunday.
Police believe Fleschner was in an argument with Danny Quiles outside a supermarket when the dispute turned physical and Quiles punched Fleschner several times, knocking him to the ground.
Quiles fled the scene before EMS arrived, police said. He was arrested in Brooklyn on Friday afternoon and charged with manslaughter.
Both men lived several blocks away at The Hegeman, which provides permanent, affordable housing for formerly homeless single adults.
