NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A 60-year-old man was slashed across the face at the Herald Square subway station in Midtown, police said Tuesday.

The victim was inside the station at W. 34th Street and Sixth Avenue at 2:20 a.m. on June 22 when he got into a dispute with another man.

During the argument, the stranger slashed him across the face with a sharp object, causing a "large" laceration, police said.

The suspect fled westbound on 34th Street after the attack. An image released by the NYPD shows him at the station before he took off.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
