Man, 72, fatally struck by Bronx hit-run driver: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 72-year-old man died nearly a month after he was struck down by a Bronx hit-and-run SUV driver, police said Sunday.

Cristobal Acosta was crossing the street at East 168th Street and Walton Avenue when the driver of an Audi SUV struck him around 5:55 p.m. on Dec. 20.

The impact, which threw the victim to the ground, caused him to sustain injuries to his head and torso.

He was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln and was initially expected to survive, but he succumbed to his injuries on Jan. 17.

The driver fled east on East 168th Street and remains at large.
