NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man was arrested and charged with murder this week in connection with a sucker punch that killed a 61-year-old father of three on a Brooklyn street last year.

Isaih James, 20, was also charged with robbery following his arrest Wednesday night in the May 25, 2022, death of Victor Vega. A second suspect remains at large.

Horrific video released by the NYPD showed Vega was walking outside his home at Lexington and Nostrand avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant when two men followed him and one punched him in the face.

The blow sent Vega falling to the pavement next to a parked car, where he hit his head. The pair then rifled through his pockets and fled, police said.

Vega died five days later at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County.

James, who is a reputed gang member, lived right across the street from Vega on Lexington Avenue, according to police.

Vega had a big heart and was known for "looking out for people in his neighborhood," his stepdaughter, Elise Anderson, told the Daily News.

He also loved animals and would take in litters of abandoned kittens and puppies, she said. "He would bring them home and we’d take care of them until we could find them a family."
