Man dies after he's pulled from Hudson River off Chelsea

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man died after he was pulled from the Hudson River off Chelsea on Sunday night, police said.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a man in the water at 11th Avenue and W. 17th Street, just north of near Pier 57, shortly before 11:30 p.m.

Members of the Parks Department located him. The NYPD's harbor unit then removed him from the water, with police performing CPR on him at the scene.

The victim was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was pronounced dead at 12 a.m.

He has not yet been identified.

It wasn't immediately clear how he ended up in the water.
