The victim was walking a dog just before 7 a.m. on Saturday inside of Claremont Park when she was hit by Becan Floyd while he was driving a Nissan Altima, police said.

Floyd was driving on a pedestrian roadway in the park, mounting a curb into a grassy knoll and then hitting a small tree. He continued driving in the grass where he crashed into the victim and her dog, authorities said. He then dragged her with the car before backing up and fleeing the scene.

The car then hit two other vehicles before Floyd got out of the car and attempted to run away on foot. He was arrested shortly after, police said.

The Nissan vehicle Floyd was driving was allegedly stolen from in front of the homeless shelter he was staying at, according to authorities.

The former Atlanta resident is charged with 2 counts of assault, leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury, reckless endangerment, criminal possession of stolen property, reckless driving and unlicensed driving.
