NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 23-year-old man was fatally struck while standing on a Brooklyn sidewalk in a chain-reaction crash Wednesday, police said.

Chaim Blum was struck by a gray Toyota Sienna minivan around 7:10 p.m. as he stood on the sidewalk at 50th Street and 13th Avenue in Borough Park.

Blum had just reached the corner when the Sienna, traveling east on 50th Street, was struck by a Honda Odyssey minivan traveling south on 13th Avenue, police said.

The Sienna was hit on the driver's side, spun out of control and mounted the sidewalk.

Blum was rushed to Maimonides Medical Center with severe head and body injuries and was pronounced dead.

He was struck about a half a mile from his house.

The two drivers, both 27-year-old men, remained at the scene and were not hurt.

There are no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The deadly Brooklyn crash happened the same night that a pedestrian and a bicyclist were killed in separate hit-and-run crashes in Manhattan and the Bronx.
