Man placed in chokehold, robbed of $30K watch on Chelsea street

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is looking to identify a suspect accused of placing a man in a chokehold during a robbery on a Manhattan street last month, authorities said.

At approximately 5:25 a.m. on Sunday, February 12, a 25-year-old man was approached by the suspect who engaged him in a conversation near the vicinity of West 19th Street and 8th Avenue in Chelsea, officials said.

According to police, the suspect then went behind the victim, placed him in a chokehold and forcibly removed his watch worth approximately $30,000.

The suspect fled on foot, going southbound on 8th Avenue.

The victim sustained minor injuries and did not require medical attention at the scene.

The suspect was last seen wearing a blue jacket, black pants, black boots and a black hat.
