NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A masked thief stole a Brooklyn hotel worker’s ring and cellphone at gunpoint, police said Tuesday.

The man entered the lobby of the Hotel Hashtag on East 98th Street near East New York Avenue in Brownsville at 7:35 a.m. Monday.

He talked to the 34-year-old victim working at the front desk about the hotel and eventually asked to use her cellphone, according to police.

When the worker offered the suspect a landline phone at the counter, he asked for her cellphone once again. He then aimed a gun at her, grabbed her arm and yanked a ring from her finger.

He then threatened to shoot her if she did not hand over her cellphone, police said. He then forcibly removed her iPhone 14 from her hand and fled the location on a black bicycle, heading southbound on East 98th Street.

The woman sustained only minor injuries and refused medical attention at the scene.

Both the stolen ring and stolen cellphone were valued at $1,200.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
