NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police on Wednesday identified the man who opened fire on an off-duty NYPD officer at a Queens 7-Eleven as the cop and his parents were returning home from a Broadway show.

Michael Slack, 44, is being sought for the Friday night shooting that targeted Officer Ivan Gomez, his father, 71, and his mother, 70, as they returned home from seeing "MJ," the Michael Jackson musical in Times Square, police told the Daily News.

Police released his photo and said his last known address is in Snellville, Georgia.

Gomez pulled his Jeep into the parking lot outside the 7-Eleven on Queens Boulevard near 43rd Street in Sunnyside, and according to the report, he and his father went inside to buy beer and other items.

They parked next to Slack, who'd been sitting in his Toyota Sienna minivan with Georgia plates for about an hour before the shooting. Investigators reportedly suspect he was going to rob the store when Gomez and his parents pulled in.

When the officer and his father returned to the car, the father shouted when he noticed a shotgun barrel hanging out of Slack's minivan.

Slack fired, missing the mother, but the officer, who is a member of the World Trade Center command, suffered minor injuries after being hit by broken glass.

Unaware that his father was not fully in the Jeep, the officer pulled away as Slack fled the area, sending the father to the ground. Gomez then returned to the scene and tended to his father.

A source told the Daily News that there's no evidence that the shooter knew Gomez was an officer.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
