NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was shot dead near a Manhattan Shake Shack on Saturday night, continuing a spree of violence across the city that began on Friday afternoon.

The fatal shooting happened just after 10 p.m. inside a Harlem smoke shop on 125th Street and 5th Avenue, across the street from a Shake Shack.

The 42-year-old man, later identified as Alfred Johnson, was shot in the torso and neck, police said. He was pronounced dead at NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem.

About 20 minutes after the deadly shooting, a 32-year-old woman was shot in the chest about five blocks away on East 125th Street and Second Avenue, police told the Daily News.

In the last two days, there have been at least 20 shootings or stabbings in all five boroughs, resulting in at least three deaths.

Mayor Eric Adams said Saturday that the city is making strides in the fight against gun violence.

"We're down in shootings this week in the city," Adams said. "We're down in homicides in the city. And so when you have these high-profile incidents, it gives the appearance that we're not winning, but we are."

According to NYPD crime statistics, gun violence in the city is on the decline, with 97 people shot so far this year, compared to 127 at the same time last year.
