NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A sleeping subway rider was bashed in the face by a man wielding a stick on a train in Queens this week, police said Tuesday.
The 67-year-old victim was asleep on a southbound A train rolling through Ozone Park at 9:50 p.m. Sunday when he was awoken by the man with a stick.
The crazed assailant said nothing as he took the stick and struck the victim in the face with it, according to police, who called the attack entirely unprovoked.
The victim suffered multiple lacerations to his face and swelling to his eye.
He was transported by EMS to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center to be treated.
The suspect fled the train at the 80th Street station, police said.
