NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A mother was repeatedly stabbed on a Downtown Brooklyn street this week as she protected her young daughter from a woman with a knife, police said Wednesday.
The 34-year-old victim was pushing her 3-year-old daughter in a stroller at Jay and Tillary streets around 3:30 p.m. Monday when a woman walked by and picked a fight with her.
The woman was yelling and threatened to harm the girl, so the mom stepped between her and the stroller.
That's when the woman took out a knife and stabbed the mom once in the chest and multiple times in both legs, police said.
The attacker then fled the scene, heading northbound on Jay Street.
The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition.
Her daughter was not injured in the random attack, police said.
The suspect is believed to be about 30 years old. She was wearing a red jacket, black pants, white sneakers and a blonde wig during the assault, according to police.
