NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A mother was shot and critically injured in her East Harlem apartment building on Wednesday morning, police said.
The victim, 41, was shot in a sixth-floor hallway at 60 E. 135th St. in the NYCHA Lincoln Houses around 8:30 a.m.
She was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem in critical condition.
The victim was described as a mother of several children who lives in the building with her husband.
Police said the 41-year-old was shot as she and her husband intervened in a domestic dispute with their neighbors next door.
A fight ensued in the hallway, where the suspect fired a 9mm gun twice. The victim suffered bullet wounds to the face, back, buttocks and leg.

It's unclear if some were exit wounds or if bullets ricocheted.
Children in both apartments are OK, police said.
The 35-year-old suspect remains at large, according to police. He's known to the NYPD and is considered armed and dangerous.
Police were seen leading someone out to an NYPD cruiser, but it was unclear if that was related to the shooting.
Members of the NYPD's Emergency Service Unit were also spotted wearing tactical gear and holding shields as they exited the building.
Residents who live in the building told reporters that they live in fear for their safety, saying people they don’t even know roam the halls and doing drugs.
