
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An off-duty NYPD detective was arrested after he allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a gun and broke her cellphone in their Inwood home early Thursday.

Luis Maldonado was taken into custody and charged around 6 a.m. with menacing and criminal mischief, according to police, who told the Daily News that a fiery dispute between him and his 31-year-old girlfriend led her to feel terrorized.
However, she was reportedly unharmed during the ordeal.
The 41-year-old joined the department in 2011 and has been assigned to Narcotics Borough Bronx since 2020, records reviewed by the outlet show.
Those records show that Maldonado has been investigated three times by the Civilian Complaint Review Board for abuse of authority and excessive physical force those allegations have not led to disciplinary charges.
