NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A pedestrian died after he was struck by a FedEx truck driver in a hit-and-run crash in Brooklyn Wednesday night, authorities said.
At approximately 9:15 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Coney Island and Caton avenues in Windsor Terrace, officials said.
Upon arrival, officers observed a man lying unresponsive on the roadway with trauma to the body. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
Further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined the pedestrian was struck by a tractor-trailer, which was the FedEx vehicle, and became trapped underneath the vehicle.
As the vehicle made a right turn from westbound Caton Avenue onto northbound Coney Island Avenue, the pedestrian dislodged and fell to the roadway, according to police.
The pedestrian was then struck by a 2022 Kia Forte which was driven by a 24-year-old man also making the same right turn from westbound Caton Avenue to northbound Coney Island Avenue.
The FedEx tractor-trailer continued northbound on Coney Island Avenue and did not remain on scene, officials said.
The Kia remained at the scene and the driver was not injured the NYPD said.
No arrests have been made, and an investigation remains ongoing as police continue to search for the FedEx driver.
