NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A driver reportedly shot at NYPD officers and rammed his car into them in Brooklyn on Wednesday night—hours after police opened fire on a fleeing driver who struck and injured them in the borough.

Some of the details about the late night confrontation weren't immediately known, but police confirmed there was an incident around 11 p.m. between NYPD officers and a man driving a Jeep Wrangler in the area of W. 9th Street and Smith Street in Carroll Gardens.

There may have been an exchange of gunfire between an officer and the suspect, but the officer was not hit, according to police.

The New York Post reported that it all started when the driver backed his Jeep into the officers' patrol car as they tried to pull him over. He then opened fire on an officer who was approaching the Jeep, leading to the officer firing off one round.

Two officers suffered minor injuries in the incident, according to the report.

No shell casings have been found at the scene, police said.

The suspect remained at large Thursday, with the NYPD and additional agencies investigating.

Wednesday night's altercation came just hours after police opened fire on a Mercedes-Benz driver who sped at them while fleeing a traffic stop in Canarsie around 2 p.m.

Multiple officers suffered minor injuries. None of them were shot.

The Mercedes driver fled and was still being sought.
