NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police determined the death of a two-year-old Staten Island boy in May was a homicide on Saturday.

Law enforcement found Ermias Taylor-Santiago unconscious and unresponsive in a house on Deirdre Court near Mary Street in Park Hill on May 20 just after 11:30 a.m.

Emergency responders rushed the toddler to Staten Island University North Campus Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say there were no obvious signs of trauma when police first found the boy, and that the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner has yet to announce the cause of death.

Taylor-Santiago lived a few blocks away from the house where he was found dead.

An investigation into the death is still ongoing.
