NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A paraprofessional at a Queens elementary school was charged with raping an underage girl, authorities said Tuesday.
Jamall Russell, 29, surrendered at the 105th Precinct on Monday, officials said.
Russell was charged with rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse and acting in a manner injurious to a child.
Russell works as a para at P.S. 97-The Forest Park School, but the allegations involve a girl at another school, according to the NYPD.
The girl was 14 when the relationship started and is currently 15 years old, police said.
"This alleged behavior is very troubling and completely unacceptable. There is nothing more important than the safety and well-being of our students," a spokesperson for the Department of Education said in a statement.
