NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A sleeping subway rider awoke when a robber cut his pants and stole his belongings on a Bronx train, police said Thursday.
The robbery happened on the northbound 6 train at the Pelham Bay Park station on April 7 around 5:40 a.m.
The suspect approached the 48-year-old victim and cut open his pants pocket. That's when the man woke up, and the thief robbed him.
Police said the thief and the victim then got into an argument on the platform before the suspect sprayed him in the face with an unknown substance.
The individual was last seen on the southbound 6 train.
The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition.
