Robbers beat man, 65, with cane in Manhattan subway

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police are searching for two men who used a cane to pummel a 69-year-old man during a robbery at an East Harlem subway station earlier this week, authorities said.

The victim was entering the mezzanine of the East 125th Street subway station at 7 p.m. Monday when he was approached from behind by the two suspects, who struck him in the head with a cane, officials said.

The suspects then forcibly grabbed the victim's cellphone and fled the station.

The victim sustained a laceration to his face but refused medical attention.

The first suspect was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, a blue t-shirt with an orange butterfly and light-colored pants.

The second suspect was last seen wearing a black du-rag, a black t-shirt and black pants.
