NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Two would-be robbers threatened to shoot a man who wouldn’t give them money outside an NYU building before the university's security intervened and helped the victim, police said Wednesday.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the two suspects they’re searching for in the Dec. 31 mugging in Greenwich Village.

The 38-year-old victim was in front of an NYU building at Washington Place and Greene Street, just east of Washington Square Park, around 7 p.m. when the pair came up and demanded his money, police said.

When the man refused to hand over cash, the men followed him around and threatened to shoot him, according to police.

The victim alerted an NYU security guard, who came to his aid, causing the two men to flee the area.

No one was injured, and no property was reported stolen, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
