NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A subway rider was stabbed in the stomach with an ice pick in an unprovoked attack at a Brooklyn station, police said Friday as they released an image of a suspect.

The 38-year-old victim was standing with another man on the J platform at the Crescent Street station in Cypress Hills around 4:15 a.m. on April 19 when a man with an ice pick showed up.

The crazed man plunged the ice pick into the 38-year-old man's stomach and then followed the victim through the station while wielding the weapon, police said.

The attacker, believed to be in his 30s, eventually fled on a northbound J train.

The victim was transported by private means to Interfaith Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

The 43-year-old man who the victim was with was not injured in the attack.
