NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Police busted the suspect in last weekend's shocking Bronx sex attack in which a woman was choked and dragged into a garage in front of bystanders who reportedly did nothing.
Angel Roque, 36, was cuffed in the Bronx on Thursday afternoon, the NYPD said Friday.
Roque, of Belmont, was charged with attempted rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse, criminal obstruction of breathing and stalking.
Investigators believe he's the man who walked up to the 68-year-old victim in Fordham Heights around 6 a.m. Saturday and placed her in a chokehold.
Bystanders reportedly looked on as the woman was dragged into a garage at East 189th Street and Webster Avenue, just a couple blocks from a busy commercial corridor and Fordham University.
No one attempted to intervene or even called 911 as the man forced the victim into the garage, where he tried to remove her clothes and forced her to perform oral sex, WNBC reported.
The woman was transported by EMS to an area hospital to be treated.
Roque's arrest came two days after the NYPD put out surveillance photos that show the suspect walking down a sidewalk around the time of the attack.
