
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for a suspect wanted in a pair of purse robberies in Manhattan earlier this month, according to authorities.
The first incident happened just before 8:30 on Sunday, March 12, when a 59-year-old woman was approached from behind by the suspect in the vicinity of West 18th Street and 7th Avenue in Chelsea, officials said.
The suspect grabbed the victim, threw her to the ground and forcibly stole her purse, which contained a cellphone, tablet and bank cards.
The suspect fled eastbound on West 18th Street.
The victim was treated at an area hospital for minor injuries to both hands.
At about 8:40 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, a 28-year-old victim was approached by the suspect, in the vicinity of West 18th Street and 7th Avenue, police said.
The suspect stole the victim's purse from her shoulder and fled southbound on 7th Avenue.
The victim's purse was worth approximately $800 and contained banking cards authorities said.
The victim did not sustain any injuries as a result of this incident.
The suspect was last seen wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt, sneakers and blue jeans.
