Suspect sought in $9K Bronx jewelry store robbery

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The NYPD is searching for a man who robbed a Bronx jewelry store Saturday night and made away with thousands of dollars in merchandise and cash.

Around 6:30 p.m., the suspect went into E.H. Jewelry Inc. on 2865 3rd Avenue in Melrose and asked the 63-year-old employee about making a purchase, police said.

The man then took out a gun and entered the employee only area of the store before taking trays of merchandise valued at about $8,000 as well as $1,000 from the cash register before fleeing the scene, cops said.

The store employee was not injured during the robbery.

The suspect is described as having a medium complexion, slim build, black hair and facial hair, last seen wearing a black winter hat, a black mask, a black hooded jacket with "Protocol's Candy Shop" written on the back, gray pants with black on the front and black and gray sneakers.
