NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A 14-year-old boy was charged with attempted murder in the shooting of a 12-year-old boy in Brooklyn last week, authorities announced Thursday.

At about 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, the teen was playing with a gun in the lobby of a building located at 325 Bristol St. in Brownsville.

According to police, the teen then pointed the gun at the 12-year-old boy, pulled the trigger and shot him in the left shoulder.

Investigators believe the teen did not know that there was a bullet still in the chamber.

The boy was transported to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition.

Police recovered the gun as well as a caliber casing at the scene.
