Thief chokes, repeatedly punches woman, 64, during East Harlem robbery

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for an suspect wanted for choking and punching a woman during an East Harlem robbery earlier this month authorities said.

Just after 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, the suspect approached a 64-year-old woman from behind in front of 225 East 118th Street, then bean to choke her, police said.

The suspect then threw the woman to the ground and punched her several times in the face before taking her purse.

The victim was taken to the Metropolitan Hospital in stable condition.

The suspect fled on foot westbound on East 118th Street.
