Thief punches, pushes victim while trying to steal cellphone in the Bronx

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man is wanted for assaulting and robbing a 19-year-old in the Bronx last month, authorities said.

The victim was walking in front of 1888 Westchester Avenue in Parkchester just after 3 p.m. on April 30 when a thief came up to him and took the victim’s cell phone from his hands, police said.

While trying to get his cell phone back, the suspect allegedly punched the victim in his face and threw him to the ground.

Cops said the victim was able to get his cellphone back but the man stole about $40 dollars from his pocket before fleeing the scene.

The victim sustained minor injuries from the assault but did not require medical attention.
