
NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Police are searching for a trio of young crooks who've been attacking and robbing older men in Sunset Park since mid-February.
The three victims, all in their 60s, were robbed as they walked early in the morning, police said Tuesday as they released surveillance images of the three suspects and offered a $3,500 reward for information.
In the most recent robbery at 5:20 a.m. Saturday, a 69-year-old man was surrounded, repeatedly punched and robbed of his cellphone at 61st Street and Seventh Avenue.
The victim suffered pain and swelling to his head. He was treated at the scene by EMS.
Just days before that on March 7, a 68-year-old man was pushed to the ground at Eighth Avenue and 57th Street by the thieves, who snatched up his wallet containing $160 and a credit card. He didn’t require medical treatment.
The earliest reported robbery was on Feb. 15, when a 62-year-old man was punched in the head and robbed of his cellphone and lunchbox, police said. The victim was walking at Eighth Avenue and 41st Street when he was ambushed by the men. He was hospitalized at Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition.
